The assembled chorus recognized not the rejected daughter of their cannibal ire, but a symbol, a reflection come to whip them to higher elation in their call to war, deeper comfort in their fresh, violent, ill fitting common purpose.
"Let her speak," they cried, and the bodies crowding the pulpit parted before me. And an electric silence fell.
"These throws of justice feel foreign. They sound like someone else. Would we, well intentioned, with false sonder for the plight of a single martyr, commit to such indescriminate violence?"
Sensing that my message would increasingly counter the mood of the moment, men again pressed in on me, shouldering me out of sight of the assembly. The Sherrif, cerimonial sword now out of it's sheath and thrust skyward retook the pulpit.
